Dear Marjorie,

Last September I bought the Friday Harbor Cap kit, and you were kind enough to help me with the decreasing and finishing.

I thought you might get a chuckle out of the fact that I wore it for three days and nights last week! On December 28th at 1:00 am, the electricity went out over a huge area of the Tehachapi Mountains in Southern California due to a fierce snowstorm with high winds. We got power on again at 12:30 am on December 31st. And we were among the lucky ones. Some areas are expected to have power by later today. Well, we bundled up in about four layers of clothes, snuggled under blankets by the fire in the fireplace, and we were still cold. It got down to 46 inside the house by the time the heater could run again. The only time we were warm was when we went to bed, fully clothed and capped.

And what did I do for three days besides shiver? When it was light enough to see, I knitted on the second cap I am going to get from the leftover yarn! Who knows - some time I may need to wear two at once!
